The short answer: in Auckland, “affordable” small-site quotes start around $650 for a one-pager, run $1,200–$4,000 for small multi-page builds, plus care plans at $50–$200 a month. Pay-monthly services charge $95–$299 a month. We’re an Auckland team too, and our LaunchPad plan is $1 a day — $365 + GST a year ($419.75 incl. GST) — with the build free during launch and everything included.
The Auckland market, honestly mapped
Tāmaki Makaurau has more web designers than anywhere else in the country, which cuts both ways: real choice at every price, and the country’s biggest spread between what businesses pay and what they get. Published local pricing clusters like this:
| Auckland option | Typical price |
|---|---|
| Agency one-pager | From ~$650 |
| Agency small multi-page | $1,200–$4,000 |
| Mid-tier agency build | $5,000–$15,000 |
| Freelancer build | $1,500–$4,000 typical |
| Care plans (on top) | $50–$200+/mo |
| Pay-monthly services | $95–$299/mo |
| LaunchPad ($1 a day) | $365 + GST/yr, all-in |
The full national picture — and what every line item hides — is in our NZ website cost guide. The Auckland-specific note is simpler: the same one-page job spans a 10x price range in this city, and the difference is rarely the pixels. It’s brand work, meetings, custom features — legitimate things, if you need them. Most local service businesses don’t, yet.
What “affordable” should mean here
An affordable Auckland website isn’t the lowest quote — it’s the lowest total that still ticks the boxes that matter:
- All-in pricing, GST stated. Auckland quotes love hiding the monthlies. Cheap that stays cheap is bundled and stated.
- The domain in your name. The city’s saddest recurring story is the business whose old designer owns its address.
- Someone answerable for changes. Auckland has plenty of beautiful sites showing 2023 hours. Upkeep is the product; the build is just day one.
- Facts machines can read. With 45% of consumers now asking AI tools for recommendations, an affordable site that AI can’t quote is affordable invisibility.
Where we fit (and where we don’t)
We’re GoDigital — NZ-owned, based in Auckland, hundreds of NZ small-business sites built. LaunchPad is our launch offer: a professional one-page site, built free during launch, then $1 a day covering the .co.nz domain (your name on it), hosting, SSL and security, Google + AI-search setup, and five updates a year. You see your finished site free before paying anything — which, we’d argue, beats any portfolio meeting in any café in the CBD.
Where we’re not the answer: online stores, booking systems, custom features, big multi-page builds. That work is real and worth paying properly for — it’s what GoDigital itself does, and what good Auckland agencies charge those bigger numbers for. The one-pager covers most local service businesses; when you outgrow it, you’ll know.
The Auckland-shaped opportunity
Here’s the number that should reframe “can I afford a website” for every South Auckland tradie, North Shore salon and West Auckland cleaner: InternetNZ’s 2025 research found 47% of NZ businesses still have no website at all — while 74% of consumers call a business’s website their most important way to engage. Auckland’s customers are the most online in the country; a meaningful slice of its businesses still aren’t. In the country’s most competitive city, the cheapest visible advantage isn’t ranking battles — it’s simply being properly findable while your competitor still runs on a Facebook page.
That gap closes one business at a time. For a dollar a day, there’s no longer a price reason to be on the wrong side of it.
