The short answer: published Invercargill pricing for a one-page website runs from $749 inc GST (Groundwork Digital) to $899 ex GST (Website4U), five-page builds from $1,449 inc GST to $1,800 ex GST, and pay-monthly plans advertised for Invercargill at $99 and $250 a month. Our LaunchPad plan is $1 a day, $365 + GST a year ($419.75 incl. GST), everything included. At the time of writing, more than 140 Southland businesses, from Invercargill to Gore, Winton, Te Anau, Riverton and Bluff, already have a site built and waiting to be claimed.

Every figure was checked on the provider’s own page on the day of publication; the sources are at the bottom. Read the small print on the monthly options especially: one lists unlimited edits as an $80-a-month add-on and extra pages at $150 each, which is normal for the model and worth knowing before you compare it with a plan where edits are included.
What affordable should include, whoever builds it
- A .co.nz in your name. Not the designer’s. The Domain Name Commission’s guidance is that if the registrant is your web developer, you contact your registrar and get it transferred. The one-minute check is here.
- The total, with GST stated. Southland quotes, like everywhere, love a one-off number that hides hosting, domain and hourly edits. Ask for year two.
- A page that loads on rural data. Between Lumsden and Tuatapere, a heavy site is a dead site. Light pages are a regional feature.
- Facts in text. Hours, services and area in words a phone and a machine can read, because 45% of consumers now ask AI tools for local recommendations and the assistants read text, not photos of text.
What’s already built in Southland
We build ahead. From each business’s public details (name, town, what it does, its public Google rating) we’ve built one-page sites for real Southland businesses and put them live as previews, checked by a person, so an owner can see the finished thing before deciding anything. At the time of writing:
- Invercargill: 58 sites, including The Batch Cafe, Stirling Auto Repairs and Ave A Cut
- Gore: 15, Winton: 13 (including Southbuild ITM), Te Anau: 13 (including Sandfly Cafe)
- Riverton: 10 (including Aparima Restaurant and Bar), Bluff: 7 (including Fowler’s Wild Bluff Oysters)
- Lumsden, Otautau, Manapouri, Mataura and a handful of smaller places
Across Southland that’s 56 hospitality, 46 trade and auto, 26 personal-care and 20 retail businesses. Previews carry a noindex tag on purpose so nothing competes with an owner’s real site; when one is claimed it goes live on the owner’s own .co.nz. If one of these is yours and you’d like it changed or taken down, tell us and we will.
The Southland-shaped opportunity
MBIE’s 2025 factsheet says 74% of NZ businesses have no employees at all: one person, one ute, one phone, which describes a large share of every Southland main street. InternetNZ’s 2025 research found 47% of NZ businesses have no website, with the most common reason being that the owner didn’t think their business needed one, while nearly three-quarters of consumers named a business’s website the most important tool for engaging with it. In a small market that’s a gift: the first plumber in Winton, the first cafe in Riverton, with a page that states hours, prices and location in plain text, doesn’t edge ahead. They become the findable one.
Where we fit
We’re GoDigital, an Auckland-based, NZ-owned team; Southland work happens remotely, the way most web work now does, and it costs the same from Bluff as from Birkenhead. LaunchPad is our launch offer: a professional one-page site built free during launch, then $1 a day covering the .co.nz domain (registered to you), hosting, SSL and security, Google + AI-search setup (itemised here) and five updates a year. No lock-in, a 30-day money-back guarantee, and it renews at the same price.
Where we’re not the answer: online stores, booking systems, big multi-page builds. Those are proper jobs at proper prices, the kind Southland’s own agencies quote for and GoDigital does too.
Search your business name and see whether yours is already built.
